Release & Renew Ritual – New Moon in Gemini

Next Monday, May 30th, is a New Moon in Gemini, exact at 9:30pm AEST (precisely when we’ll finish!): join me for a simple ritual to smooth the release of the old and infuse grace into the new.

It’s been an intense eclipse season for many, and with an election just gone, it truly is time to release the old and invoke the new.

This new moon Eros and Hecate are still widely conjunct the sun, bridging their desire for magical connection from the past month into the next. With Gemini’s curiosity and openness and focus on connecting and communicating, as the moon conjuncts the sun for the introspective refresh of the new moon, it suggests the considered review of our relationships and perhaps charting the course for new engagements and at least the next moves in existing connections.

The new moon is directly opposed by the Dark Moon, and square Juno, so the strongest challenges at this time will come from the parts of us, or our connections, that have been actively excluded, rejected, disowned (Dark Moon), or wronged by the breaking of relational agreements or offences to cultural norms (Juno).

During the new moon week retrograde Mercury, Gemini’s ruler, is squaring Saturn who turns retrograde later in the week, bringing the risk of critical thinking, harsh words and negative messages. These could be occurring in the now or the karmic debt for them in the past may come due. Overall it adds a tone of seriousness and reconsideration into what we’re contemplating and how we’re speaking. In addition, Mars is conjuncting Jupiter, bringing a surge of energy, passion, and initiative, which could vitalise our endeavours and relationships, inspiring catchups, meaningful conversations and reaching out to others generally, or lead us into overreach, self inflation and/or conflict.

Of course the context here can be with family, friends, lovers, clients or colleagues, or a mix of all of them: depending on how your personal chart intersects with the astro-weather.

Overall this new moon seems a time for taking stock of our past relating, and setting the course for how to evolve our connections, inviting the exploration of new ways of communicating. Despite the reflective and corrective elements involved it should actually be quite a bit lighter, freer and more joyful compared to the heavier Taurus eclipse season just past, leading into an outgoing, lively and fun Sagittarius full moon mid June.
